Labor and Delivery
So on March 19th I was induced at 8 a.m. I got to the hospital got set up in the room, got my IV in, got blood drawn and all the heart and contraction moniters put on. Then they put cervidile (Not sure how to spell it) in my cervix to soften it. It had to be in there for 12 hours! I had no idea it was going to take this long just to soften my cervix! So I got it put in at about 9 a.m and for the next 12 hours the pain wasn’t too bad. When it did get bad they gave me statenal I believe it was called. I passed out immediately when they gave me that. We basically just hung around for the 12 hours, I wasn’t allowed to eat anything so I was so hungry, and very very uncomfortable. My parents brought some disney movies from home since they had a VCR, I barely watched any of them though. So 12 hours later they took the cervidile out and I had an hour when they let me eat and take a shower, that was sooo nice! So at about 10:30 p.m they started me on the pitocen. I was dialated to about 2-3 centimeters, which was good because they didn’t expect the cervidile to dialate me any but it did. The contractions started getting intense around midnight even though they weren’t regular or anything and I had to wait til I was 4 centimeters to get the epideral. So around 1:30 a.m I was finally 4 centimeters and could get the epideral! So the Dr. came in and gave me the epideral, which was actually pretty painful to get, he said my epideral spot was really deep. After about 20 minutes I couldn’t feel my legs but the pain didn’t go away what so ever, I was feeling insane amounts of pressure in my lower back. The epideral is supposed to work within 15 minutes so they called the Dr. in again and he had to re-do the epideral, which SUCKED! I hated having to go through that all over again.. but the second time it had worked and I was numb so I went to sleep for a pretty long while. I honestly don’t remember much from about 2:30 a.m to about 7:00 a.m. I basically just slept and did wake up occasionally because I could feel some contractions and they were getting kind of strong. And they did break my water when I was 5 centimeters which I’m guessing it was probably around 3 or 4 a.m, I was pretty out of it. So at about 8:00 a.m on March 20th they checked me again and I was 6 centimeters but the baby wasn’t moving down into the birthing position so they had to rotate me onto both sides a bunch of times for about an hour or two. By then the epideral had really started to wear off and I was in really intense pain. They kept upping my dose but to me it didn’t really feel any different. At about 9:30 a.m they checked me again which was about an hour after they checked me before when I was 6 centimeters, when they checked me at 9:30 I was already at 10 centimeters and I was feeling the urge to push really bad. I had the worst pain/pressure in my lower back/butt. I had started crying and breaking down because it hurt so bad and I couldn’t move myself to help ease the pain because I was a dead weight because of the epideral. The nurses started to let me push to bring the baby down further, and it felt so good to push. Finally the Dr. came in at about I think like 10:15 or 10:30 a.m. They kept saying it would take a long time for me to push her out because she wasn’t really that low which was really a motivation to push as hard as I could to get her out, I didn’t want to be pushing for hours and hours. From the time I started to push til the time she came out was about only an hour. I pretty much felt everything during her birth, which honestly was kind of cool, but extremely painful. I did rip just a bit and had to get an episiotomy, but that was okay. At 11:08 a.m Liliana Rosalyn was born at 7lbs 5oz and 20 inches long. I couldn’t believe what I had just done, I felt like I was litterally in a dream. She was so so so perfect with a ton of hair and chunky cheeks I couldn’t believe she was mine. Danny got to cut her cord, which by the way he was very supportive through the whole labor and stayed with me the entire time. I’m so glad she’s finally here and couldn’t ask for anything more!
At 40 weeks on my due date I had my dr’s appointment and they checked me and I was still only a centimeter dialated. I hadn’t had any contractions or anything yet so they called the hospital and scheduled my induction for the next day at 8 a.m. I was SOOOO excited to finally know that she was coming!
Just a picture of my extremely swolen feet, they’ve gotten worse since haha.
Me and Danny’s little “home-made photoshoot.”
39 Week Update
So right now I am 39 weeks and 5 days, 2 days until my due date! I am beyond excited. At my last doctors appointment it was kind of disapointing. He took back what he had said about me getting induced last weekend, and he didn’t even check me. It was kind of bogus but whatever. I’m just happy my babygirl is healthy still and she’ll be out soon! So my feet have swolen up A LOT lately, it’s pretty funny actually, but it’s annoying too. Other than that theres not much to update on, just the whole family is very anxious for her to come as am I ofcourse!
So it’s been a long time since I’ve just done a update of my life in general. I’ll do another post later on my doctors appointment on friday. So basically at the current moment I am 39 weeks and 2 days. Time has been flying by so fast, it makes me terrified of how fast time is going to fly when she gets here. I mean time is flying by, and I am impaitently waiting for her to come, so you’d think it would go by slow. I am so, so excited for her to come, I am a little nervous too, but mostly excited. I’ve started my leave from work now because I don’t feel up to working (you’ll know why when I tell my pregnancy symptoms). I feel pretty ready for her, but I know that it will be overwelming when she first comes. She moves A LOT! I love it, she’s actually moving right now. I love, love, love feeling her move and seeing her move. It is really a breath taking experience, it has to be my favorite part of being pregnant. My stomach is pretty big (in my opinion - it atleast feels huge!) and pretty uncomfortable so I’m excited to not feel like I have a big bowling ball in my belly. I’m gonna list all my “pregnancy symptoms” for you guys, sorry if some of them are TMI.
- Swolen Feet & Hands
- Back Pains
- Trouble sleeping
- Pains in my ribs
- Shortness of breath
- Sore feet
- Sore breasts
- Very increased urination
- Lack of energy
- Increased allergies
Those are all of the symptoms I can think of right now. I haven’t had any contractions, which is a bad thing because it means I’m not in labor :P. On another note Liliana’s grandparents are just as excited as her parents to meet her! We all want her to come out ASAP. Danny and I are doing really good, he’s still looking for a job, which is a bummer, but hopefully he will get one soon! He’s excited to meet his baby girl. As far as school goes I’ve been doing online classes at virtual high shcool since january and I will graduate in June. I’m only doing 3 classes because that’s all I needed to graduate and I’ve been getting ahead in my classes before the baby comes so that I won’t have so much work to do when she’s here. So that’s pretty much an update on my life. I don’t ever go out with friends or anything really just work, school, and preparing for baby!
38 weeks pregnant
So my doctors appointment on friday went alright…They had me and Danny wait 2 hours just to start the appointment! That got me pretty upset, everyone else got called before us..anyways. News from the doctor was I haven’t dialated any more, it’s looking the same. And he said she’s on the bigger side, so next friday at my appointment he’s going to decide if I should get induced this weekend, which honestly, I hope I do! I’m sooo ready for her to come out, but I’m going to cross my fingers and hope she comes out before this friday! Also he said I tested positive for strep B, basically it’s just a bacteria that doesn’t affect me at all, but I have to take antibiotics during labor so it’s safe for the baby to go through the birth canal. So that’s not too bad, I’m so ready for her to come out!
Baby Shower
I had my baby shower on saturday when I was 37 weeks. It was awesome, the games were funny, the cake was good, I had a good time visiting with everyone. And ofcourse the baby got the cutest clothes and coolest gifts! Thanks everyone who came. :)
37 weeks.
At my 37 week doctors appointment I got checked for dialation, I was a finger tip dialated and her head is down and low and my cervix is softening and thining out! I really hope that I go into labor soon, cause I don’t know how much longer of being pregnant I can take! I can’t wait to meet her.
